The Oil Lineup You NEED To Have - My Top 12

The essential oil world can be very overwhelming when starting out. There are 100's of oils out there that have multiple capabilities. Where is a girl to begin?! Welp, I'm going to give you a little insight into the top oils that you shouldn't go without! Shall we begin? Here are some short but sweet introductions to these little brown bottled superheroes.

"the cleanser"

This is the oil for all things cleansing. Such a fresh and happy aroma!

# Diffuse lemon to neutralize odours. Easy tip: use a few drops on cotton balls and place in your fridge, car, shoes, or wherever you want to get rid of nasty smells.

# For a little pick me up: inhale Lemon from the bottle or in your palms. Like all citrus oils, it is very uplifting and also promotes positive mood and cognitive ability.

# dōTERRA oils are safe enough to take internally, therefore add a drop of Lemon essential oil instead of lemon juice when cooking (i.e. Salmon on the BBQ, Lemon meringue pie, on papaya, Hummus, etc.) to give it a deeper, more rich flavour. Also, to get a daily dose of this cleansing oil, add it to your water for a delicious taste and to benefit from it's toxin ridding abilities (just make sure it's stainless steel or glass)!

# Combine with water and vinegar for amazing household cleaners that are nontoxic and smell perfecto!

# Fill your kitchen sink with water and add 4-6 drops of lemon essential oil and about a cup of vinegar. Then toss those fruits and veggies in to remove all of the yuckies and keep them staying fresher for longer!

"the calmer"

For all things calming...from moods to skin.

# Calm down after a crazy day by adding a cup of Epsom salts to the bath with a few drops of Lavender.

# Apply Lavender to the temples and back of neck to lessen the effects of stress and anxious feeling and to promote mental clarity.

# Relieve the "ouch" by applying one drop of Lavender to the area in question (i.e. occasional sore gums, dry or chapped lips, cute and scrapes, or after too much sun).

# After a long day on your feet, rub Lavender and Lemongrass diluted on your feet and legs. It will help soothe sore and achy muscles so they can get a full rest.

# Diffuse around bedtime, along with Vetiver, to drift peacefully off to sleep.

"the booster"

Use this baby for times when you need to cool down and revitalize!

# Get rid of stinky breath by taking a drop of Peppermint essential oil in water and swishing it around your mouth. Or if you're on the go simply put a drop in your mouth! But get is FIERCE.

# Diffuse Peppermint and Wild Orange to keep you alert and focused on the task at hand.

# Ease tension by applying lavender and peppermint diluted to neck and forehead to ease the pressure.

# Peppermint makes for fantastic respiratory and sinus support. You could take a drop on your thumb, put it on the roof of your mouth and inhale deeply, diffuse it, or even just smell it straight from the bottle. Talk about rejuvenated!

# For all my allergy sufferers out there, using peppermint along with lavender and lemon provide amazing allergy relief! You can diffuse, take internally (only dōTERRAoils), or apply topically.

"the king"

When in doubt, give this guy a shout!

# Get calm by inhaling with Lavender and Peppermint and apply to neck to help calm stress and relieve tension.

# For beautiful and radiant skin, use a drop of Frankincense with 3 drops of carrier oil or dōTERRA Spa Hand and Body Lotion.

# Frankincense smells wonderful and uplifts the mood so wear it as a perfume to lift your mood and increase feelings of alertness.

# Where are all my tea grannies at?! Dilute a drop of Frankincense in 1 teaspoon of honey or in a small herbal tea and take daily to maintain good health.

# Franki Boy can be applied to the bottoms of feet to relax and calm mood swings minor to major. In fact, it has been used to calm expectant mothers during pregnancy and labor. Diffuse in the room or massage a drop onto the chest or back of the neck.

# Frankincense is a component of DDR Prime because it promotes healthy cellular proliferation. So, take Frankincense in a Veggie Capsule to support healthy cells in your body!

#. Get rid of those nerves by combining Frankincense, Peppermint, and Wild Orange essential oil in your hand, rub hands together, and inhale deeply. This mix will also help with the most severe need for a three o’ clock pick-me-up!

# I love my baths, especially with Frankincense! Either diffuse or add directly to the tub with some fractionated coconut oil.

I realize that I gave more examples of how to use frank than some of the other oils but it's just too awesome!

Tea Tree

"the medic"

This is the first-aid oil with ti's natural antiseptic properties!

# Use to disinfect cuts, scrapes, and minor skin irritations! Just be careful and make sure to dilute using fractionated coconut oil!

# Apply after shaving (guys and girls) to prevent razor burn and ward off skin irritation.

# You can also apply to skin blemishes and rashes as part of a daily cleansing program.

# Spray your kids hats and hair with water, Tea Tree and Rosemary; head lice DO NOT like these oils. You can even put a drop or two in your shampoo in the shower to promote healthy hair and scalp!

# Diffuse Tea Tree or dilute and rub it on the bottom of your feet for immune system support. Combine with On Guard for even more benefits.

"the fighter"

Less Is more. In nearly all applications, more Oregano is not the answer. Oregano is one of the most potent essential oils (considered a very hot/caustic oil), one drop is usually all you need. I just want to say BE CAREFUL, always heavily dilute for topical use. Stay away from sensitive bits and wash your hands thoroughly. This guy is definitely a knockout.

# Apply to warts, surround the area with fractionated coconut oil and apply a drop of Oregano Oil every day for at least a week.

# Support the immune system with the power of Oregano. Layer OnGuard and Oregano on the soles of the feet with FCO and/or diffuse them.

# Oregano is a key ingredient in dōTERRA’s GX Assist, and for good reason! It helps create a peaceful environment that is unfriendly to ‘the unmentionables’ that tax our digestive systems.

# Bring the flavour of Italy into your cooking; add a drop to your big batch of Spaghetti sauce or pizza sauce (just a drop adds SO much flavor).

# Oregano is also a fantastic respiratory support. Diffuse a few drops with Easy Air at night or apply diluted down your spine.

"the bouncer"

This guy is a major player in the immune system game! Not only is it able to fight off pesky viruses, it is actually able to prevent replication of those infected cells so we get healthy quicker! Talk about kicking butt!

# Diffuse OnGuard anytime you are concerned about what’s going on around schools, shopping malls, or any crowded venue. It has such cootie killing properties!

# Add to your lemon, vinegar, and water cleaner to give it added germ fighting abilities!

# Apply to the bottoms of your feet when feeling sick to get you up and at'em quick!

# Fantastic blend for dental health (it contains Clove after all!). Try swishing OnGuard with a bit of water after dental work. You can also apply it directly to your teeth and gums with some coconut oil (or add a drop to your toothpaste) to soothe irritated gums. For a clean toothbrush, soak it in a small glass of water with 3-5 drops of OnGuard.

# Take OnGuard Softgels before, during, and after a plane trip to support your Immune System and ward off Environmental threats!

Easy Air

"the breather"

For all of your respiratory support needs!

# Support seasonal respiratory discomfort and sleep easy. Use a few drops in the diffuser by the bed (I also like to add a drop or two of OnGuard and Oregano for an extra immunity boost).

# Put a drop in a bowl full of hot steaming water with a towel over your head, breathe deeply. Bring on the sinus flow!

# Feeling anxious, claustrophobic, chest feels tight? Or like there’s no air? Use Easy Air, it will literally help you breathe!

# Diffusing is great, but when you don’t have a diffuser handy; simply add a drop of both Breathe and Frankincense into the palm off your hand. Then, make a fist with a small opening over the oils and breathe in through your fist. This simple technique does wonders!

# Place a few drops on a pillow for those that don’t want the oil applied to them (aka the skeptical other half that snores). They won’t even know but they will breathe easy and sleep soundly!

# Before exercising, rub a drop or two aver your chest for clear breathing and increased oxygen intake (ideal for the occasional runners like me).

"the tamer"

If you have anything tummy related, this oil is your best friend!

# Tame that tummy by applying to yourself or family members in a gentle clockwise massage. So fast acting, you'll be amazed.

# Motion sickeness is not my friend, so I always have some ZenGest on hand! Try inhaling it to calm your stomach and applying it to your wrists and behind your ears.

# I like to take a drop in water half an hour before meals to enhance digestion!

# Get those anxious knots in your stomach? Whip out your ZenGest!

# Trying out a new restaurant? It’s easy to have digestive distress when being adventurous with your dinner. Prevent discomfort by taking ZenGest in a Veggie Capsule to prevent or lessen the effects of certain foods.

Deep Blue

"the soother"

Amazing blend for muscle relief and joint pain. Whether the occasional yogi or amateur athlete, never leave home without this! You'll thank me later!

# Support your workout by rubbing Deep Blue diluted on muscles before and after exercise to reduce discomfort.

# Stuck at the computer, try rubbing this blend diluted on the shoulders and neck to recover and ease muscle tension.

# Texting too much? This blend is great for those who spend long hours typing or scrolling. Just massage into the hands, fingers, and wrists when needed.

# This blend provides a cooling and warming sensation that cools joints yet warms muscles and soothes occasional joint or bone pain.

# This Soothing Blend contains Blue Tansy and Helichrysum, which when used regularly, can help promote long term muscle, joint, and bone health. It can also help promote and maintain normal inflammatory response in cells.

"the referee"

One of my favourite blends! Anytime I'm feeling overly out of sorts, I turn to this beauty!

# Start your day by putting Balance on the bottom of your feet (they have the most pores in the body). This will help you to feel more calm and tranquil throughout the day.

# Balance is a great oil blend to use during a a massage. Bring it with you next time you see your massage therapist and get them to add a few drops on your back after they've applied their regular massage oil!

# Apply to your wrists and/or neck to help ease anxious feelings.

# Get a little road rage? Diffuse in your car during road trips or your commute to create a calming, soothing environment.

# Combine with lavender in your diffuser at night to help you fall blissfully off to dreamland!

"the All-In-One"

For real, I put this sh*t on everything!

# Add 1 to 2 drops to water, juice, or tea to support the health of the cardiovascular, immune, digestive, nervous, and respiratory system.

# It has major antioxidant support when ingested! So get this bad boy in yo' belly!

# Take internally to help soothe and calm the nervous system.

# Apply topically combined with a carrier oil or a facial moisturizer to help keep skin clean and clear, and to help reduce the appearance of blemishes.

# Diffuse for feelings of calm. Try mixing it with Balance or Lavender.

There are SOOOOO many more ways you can use these amazing amber bottles, but I've given you my favourite. If you are feeling ready to jump on it, head over to my The Oils page to figure out what kit works best for you!

Kelly :)
