As most of you know, last month I was at doTERRA's annual convention in Salt Lake City. At this convention, they announced something that is so freaking amazing that it actually gave me goosebumps!
Here is what they said...
They announced that, as a company, they are providing millions of dollars in order to open innovative medical clinics across the US. To do this they are partnering with a bunch of healthcare peeps (healthcare managers, marketing officers, medical officers) and bringing in medical doctors who practice integrative and functional medicine to run these clinics! THIS IS CRAZY! What this means is that the healthcare system is changing! It's coming you guys, so get you a** ready!
“The healthcare system, as it is currently conceived, simply isn’t sustainable. Perverse incentive structures coupled with powerfully entrenched third-party interests have created a system that taxes consumers with high, hidden prices and burdens doctors with an inscrutable bureaucracy.”
- Cristin Dickerson, MD, board certified radiologist
People are recognizing that how the system is working currently is NOT sustainable. Ultimately what this shift entails is that there is more of a focus on holistic and preventative approaches to healthcare versus just treatment.
Something that I was shocked to learn was that life expectancy is declining for the first time and that the next generation won’t live as long as their parents. Like whatttt? So you're telling me that with all the research and technology we have available to us now, we aren't setting ourselves up for a long and healthy life? That's nuts! Hence why doTERRA is focusing on using it's resources to provide preventative care through an integrative approach, which includes traditional western methods, essential oil treatment, and wellness services, in an effort to prevent disease and maintain optimal health.
Something else that seems crazy to me is that only about 15% of doctors integrate natural solutions into their practice and yet around 38 percent of adults (about 4 in 10) and approximately 12 percent of children (about 1 in 9) are using some form of complimentary and alternative medicine! Does that sound right to you?
One of the panel doctors on stage spoke about his dream for the future of healthcare. He said that his dream was that when going to see your doctor, the first thing they ask isn't, "what prescription can I fill?" but rather, “what is your stress level, how well are you sleeping, and what is your nutrition like?” Doesn't that just make soooo much freaking sense? The body is a whole and it should be treated like one. I've said it before and I'll say it again...INVEST IN YOUR OWN HEALTH PEOPLE! You won't regret it.
