If you know me personally, you will know that I love to be cozy. I try to make my home super comfortable and love living in an environment that is relaxed and calm. Here are some ways I go about this...
Getting rid of things that we don't need and allowing for space and simplicity are super important to me. I go through big decluttering phases about once a season (sometimes more) to clear our things that are just taking up room.
I love the ambiance that candles give off! Plus there's something about a flame that is very elemental and calming. I tend to go for scentless candles and ones made of natural products. I really like this company http://www.naturasoy.ca/unscented/ since they are all natural soy candles that come without scents! I also have flame-less candles that run on batteries and have a remote. They add to the atmosphere without the danger of flames! Plus, I feel like a wizard every time I turn them on and off.
I have blankets all over my house because (a) I am always cold, (b) I hate wearing socks in the house, and (c) they bump your coziness factor up a notch. Find blankets that are super soft and not too big so they aren't overpowering or hard to store. I recently had a friend make me a blanket ladder to help store all of my throws.
There is nothing more cozy to me than holding onto a warm cup of tea (or coffee) in the biggest mug possible. So get your hands on some hot chocolate, peppermint tea, or cappuccino!
Bringing the outdoors to the indoors, especially in the winter months, is a great way to not only clean the air in the home but also to provide a grounding element to your home. The greenery looks nice and is fun to take care of.
Obviously I love me some oils...especially when it comes to getting cuddly and cozy. I don't want to get into the science of how the oils positively affect our brains, but essential oils can take your house to a home in no time. Think about how you feel when you walk into a spa or yoga studio and breathe in the smell of lavender or sage. It makes these places more inviting and relaxing, and so to it can make your home super cozy. Check out some of my fav cozy blends below...
