FEELING A SUMMER SHIFT?

I don't know about you, but I am definitely still feeling stuck in this low energy and blah kind of vibe that's carried on from winter.  I haven't been able to really kick it.  I find I'm waking up tired, counting down the hours at work until I can go home and nap on the couch, and ultimately lack any motivation.

 

 

I did some reflecting last week and I think I've realized what it is that I'm missing.

 

 

I'M NOT PRIORITIZING MY LONG TERM HEALTH.

 

 

What I mean by this is that when I'm eating, I'm doing it to fill a need right then and there without taking into consideration what it will do for me throughout the day.  This is the same as when I'm going to bed, I'm filling the need of wanting to binge Netflix instead of a proper bedtime routine.

 

 

So, needless to say, I'm soooooo ready for a shift.  Here's my plan (or should I say challenge) for myself.

 

 

First, I'm going to address the lack of energy.

  • Nutrition is something that I don't truly know a lot about.  But, from speaking with naturopaths and friends of mine, protein is KEY when it comes to sustainable energy throughout the day.  So I am going to up my protein intake to about 50 grams per day.

  • Also, since we all generally lack proper nutrition these days, supplements are an easy and effective way of providing the body what it needs to thrive.  I have ordered myself doTERRA's Life Long Vitality daily nutrient packs.  Each individual grab-and-go pack is filled with essential nutrients, metabolic benefits, and powerful antioxidants designed to help promote energy, health, and vitality.  Plus, the convenience factor is da bomb.

  • Drinking half my body weight in water daily.  I suck at this and I know it will be work to make this a habit, but I know this is something that will drastically change how I feel and my energy levels.

 

 

A proper sleep is so important for everything we do, so I need to set myself up properly to get a restful snooze.

  • Diffusing every damn night even when I feel too lazy to do it.  Don't get me wrong, I KNOW that I sleep better with my diffuser sending out all the cozy vibes, and yet sometimes I just don't want to get up and fill it.  #relatable  Some of my fav nighttime oils are Serenity, Lavender, Cedarwood, Vetiver, Easy Air, and Aromatouch.

  • Whenever I stretch before bed, it helps me to release the tensions of the day.  I plan to do this every night while practicing breathing techniques, kind of like a moving meditation.

  • If I'm not quite ready for sleep, instead of watching the Flix, I'm going to read.  Not only will it help me sleep better by reducing screen time, but I'll also be getting some personal development time in.

 

 

Getting moving, out of the house, and away from the couch.

  • Moving my body daily will not only help reduce stress, but it will actually make me feel more motivated and accomplished.  Don't you find that when you do something like going for a walk or run, it carries on into the rest of your day?

  • An added bonus about getting outside in the summer is the vitamin D.  Which helps to increase energy too!
